- Grew up in Southern California in a rural town, about 40 miles outside L.A.- Jimi started playing and studying music at age 7: guitars, piano, (electric guitar, age 10)
- Ages 7-13: studied guitar music styles of folk, classical, blues, and hard rock from an assortment of teachers and instructors several times a week
- Started playing publicly at age 8 with performance groups, and solo
- Age 13: began studies with renowned teacher, producer and writer: Larry Samson
- Studied music theory, technique, composition, and arrangement for 5 years with Larry Samson
- Age 15 & on: began study of 12-string guitar, harmonica, voice, hand-drums, percussion, and world instruments including tamboura and saz with various teachers and groups
- Performed live in several popular L.A. music venues and clubs throughout teenage years in original music performing groups of jazz, rock, reggae, and world-beat music
- Studied jazz improvisation/arrangement/composition with renowned composer/writer/performer, Frank Ortega Jr. for 2 years
- Comparative and practical study of American gospel and church music
- Study of West African music with traditional teachers
- Study of Sufi music practices with various teachers and instructors
- 1994: began serious study and practice of Surat Shabd Yoga meditation
- Accomplished study of Eastern music, particularly instrumental and devotional music, for over 15 years
- In 1996 Jimi started forming music groups from the vision of bringing together, in an original musical setting, the spiritual music of many different sounds and styles for all people where the atmosphere is conducive to the music
- Jimi, in the summer of 1996, began appearing at a number of music gatherings and festivals in California and the Northwest
- Jimi experienced a life changing occurrence in June 1997 that would propel the vision of the music to a new level of what it would be inspiring and making available
- Jimi started playing open studio music performances in Northern California throughout 1998, and also started making spiritual music programs available to the public, free of charge, for all ages
- Jimi experienced a very serious car accident in the summer of 1999 that would inspire transcendental experience, and months of healing and transformation of self, instruments, and music
- In the Spring of 2000, Jimi Bridges started appearing publicly throughout California, performing all original music with electric and acoustic guitars, tambouras, tablas, nyahbinghi drums, bass, horns, flutes, vocals, percussion, and more
- Jimi, in 2001, began studio recording projects with Strong Love Records
- Jimi, in 2002, began working with Roots & Culture International arts & music production, and continues to up to the present
